Does joining a fraternity mean buying friends?
Joining a fraternity definitely does not mean buying friends. As a non-profit organization, all the money that the fraternity receives goes towards operating costs for the fraternity, various social and service events, as well as brotherhood events. In no way does joining a fraternity means buying friends. Friendship as well as brotherhood cannot be purchased with money; those things are built through pledging and involvement with the organization.
Do you have to be Asian to join?
No, Phi Delta Sigma does not discriminate against any races. We are an Asian Interest Fraternity, not Asian exclusive. Anyone of any race, religion, and denomination is allowed to rush.
Does rush mean I have to join?
No, at the end of rush we give out bids, and it is up to each person if they accept the bid. There is absolutely no obligation at all to pledge.
What are the fees that are required to join the Fraternity?
The only fees that will be applied are pledge fees, which generally goes towards the pledge class and the once you become a brother, there will be semester dues of a certain amount that is determined by the chapter. Because we are a non-profit organization, all of the dues will be going towards hosting different social and service events that may require money and other general fees that the fraternity needs to sustain itself.
Does being in the fraternity take a lot of time?
Honestly, it is totally up to the individual. If a member contributes a lot to the organization, most likely he will have a greater experience being in the fraternity. It’s a give and take situation. The more you give to the organization, the more the organization will give back to you.
